Conservatories Leeds - Leeds Conservatories
Conservatories Leeds
Buying a conservatory isn't something we all do everyday... and it's a big undertaking, with lots of potential problems that can turn out to be very costly.
One of the things that I wasn't aware of when I first started looking into buying conservatories in Leeds was that if the size of the conservatory is less than 30m square (inside flooring measurement) then there is virtually no building regulation.
At first this might sound like a benefit as you don't have to get involved in all the red tape - but what it actually boils down to is that builders don't have to comply with any rules. The only things that are currently specified if the conservatory is under the 30 square metre threshold are that the glass has to be toughened safety glass (which is pretty normal) and that the electrical installation has to satisfy part p regulations - THAT'S IT!
So this means that a whole load of cowboys and rip-off merchants are out there building all sorts of rubbish to under-cut the prices of the other more reputable firms. This is potentially pretty disastrous for the unsuspecting consumer who may just assume that all conservatories (being made of similar materials) are about the same, so therefore could easily be persuaded to go for the cheapest (not so).
I spent a lot of time questioning the experts before I went ahead and bought my conservatory and given that there's so much money at stake then I would recommend that you do too.
You could also save a bob or two by asking the advice of a local builder.
